2014 FDL County Budget Introduced

Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel delivered his annual budget address to County supervisors last night. Buechel said the 2014 budget won’t allow for a cost of living increase for County employees. He also told the County Board that the elimination of home health care programs will save the County $165,000 and that the completion of the Harbor Haven remodel and anticipated revenue from Medicare patients will lower the operating revenue for the facility by about $500,000. He also said that the elimination of juvenile detention from Winnebago and Outagamie County jails will increase the Fond du Lac County Jail’s revenue, which will be able to house those juveniles. He said that will help the County purchase 11 new squad cars for the Sheriff’s Department in 2014. He also says the County will fully fund an assistant district attorney’s position that handles sexual assault and domestic violence prosecutions. The tax levy will increase by $849,000, which will increase property tax bills by 1.25 percent. A public hearing on the County budget is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th with the board expected to adopt it on Tuesday, November 12th.
