9/11 Organization Announces Plan to Pay Off Mortgage for Family of Fallen Appleton Fiirefighter

A foundation established in the memory of a firefighter who
died in the 9/11 attacks is going to pay off the mortgage on the home of fallen
Appleton Firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard. The Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers
Foundation works to support the families of first responders, and to ensure that
Americans never forget the sacrifices first
 responders made on September 11th,
2001. The Foundation’s 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit, which is used to pass
those lessons onto the next generation, will be in Waupun as part of the
Celebrate Waupun festival this weekend. The foundation announced its plans to
pay off the Lundgaard family’s mortgage ahead of its arrival in Wisconsin. The exhibit will be on display from Noon until 8 pm both Saturday and Sunday

Lundgaard was killed in the line of duty May 15th,
when an individual they were attempting to help opened fire on first
responders. The 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department left behind a
wife and three sons.
