9 Arrested For OWI's During St. Patrick's Day Enforcement
Results are in from a countywide crack down on drunken drivers in Fond du Lac County over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. According to Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig the extra patrols resulted in 254 traffic stops, 134 citations were issued and 172 warnings were issued. He says to no one’s surprise there were 9 drunken driving arrests during the enforcement event. He says there weren’t any problems associated with parades in Fond du Lac and Dundee during the parades but before or after. Olig says the next effort will probably be around Memorial Day weekend, but don’t be surprised to see a random enforcement effort pop up at any time. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an impaired driver can be on the road 772 times before getting caught or arrested.
