A New Beginning

The General Superior of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes (CSA) says the transfer of CSA’s health care ministries to SSM Health is a “New Beginning.” Sister Jean Steffes says Agnesian HealthCare and the Monroe Clinic are “in very good hands.” Agnesian and SSM Health officials talked about the change during a gathering at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac Thursday morning. Employees will keep their jobs and hospitals in Fond du Lac, Ripon and Waupun their names. Damon Boatwright is the Regional President of Operations for SSM Health of Wisconsin. He says the sisters will continue to have roles in the new organization. The sisters will have members on SSM Health’s Board of Directors at the system and regional levels. SSM Health will maintain the housing for the sisters and support their voluntary and missionary efforts. Agnesian HealthCare President and CEO Steve Little says he’s looking forward to the specialties and enhanced physician participation SSM Health can bring. Laura Kaiser the President and CEO of SSM Health told the gathering, “I am very optimistic about our shared future.” The Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes have had a role in area health care for more than 120 years.
