Abortion Rate Rises Slightly in Wisconsin

A new report shows the number of abortions in Wisconsin rose slightly
in 2017 – which is the first increase in eight years. The Department of Health
Services released a report on induced abortions on Tuesday – showing 5,818 were
performed in the state in 2017, which is about a 3.7-percent increase over the
2016 number. 

Abortions had dropped each year since 2009, when DHS recorded
8,542.

Women between the ages of 20-24 accounted for 30-percent of abortions
last year. Women 18-19 accounted for about 6-percent. While another 3-percent
were from girls between 15-17 years old.
