Additional Private Rooms At Harbor Haven Gives Patients What They Want

Improvements continue at Harbor Haven Health & Rehabilitation in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel says the second phase of a project at Harbor Haven will add more private rooms. He says the first phase on the first floor took them from 24 to 19 beds. He says originally the building had 40-foot common areas instead of the usual 10 to 12 foot hallways, which allows them to put in the private rooms. He says they are actually reducing the number of rooms they have in the facility, but private rooms are what is in demand. He says before they began the first phase of improvements they had two private rooms and after this phase they will have a total of 32.  Buechel says Medicare is where the reimbursements are. He says the more Medicare beds they have the less they have to levy on taxpayers. He says they were able to trim about $500,000 from the County tax levy after improvements to the first floor.
