Adopt A Hydrant

We’ve been in the deep freeze lately, but an official with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue says when it does snow they need people to adopt a fire hydrant and shovel out around it. Division Chief Troy Haase says the time they have to spend looking for a hydrant and creating access to it during a house fire is precious time that could cost someone their life or possessions. A fire doubles in size every 30 seconds. Haase suggests teaming up with other homeowners and taking turns shoveling out around the hydrant if it is too much for one person each time it snows.
