AGLOW Members Enjoying Time In FDL Area

Outdoors writers attending the 57th Annual Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writer’s fall conference in Fond du Lac will have plenty of ideas to take home with them. Jeff Davis is the association’s president and the editor for Whitetails Unlimited magazine. He says about 175 people are attending the conference, which wraps up today. He says that’s record attendance for their conference. He says quite a few of the writers will be returning, some for sturgeon spearing season.

Today is what they call “a day afield” and quite a few will be making a trip to the Horicon Marsh. Others like Davis will be getting a plant tour at Mercury Marine, which Davis says he’s really looking forward to. This afternoon there’s the Coleman Cooking challenge. Davis says it’s similar to the “Iron Chef” with two-person teams who have to use Coleman’s propane powered cooking devices for their cooking. Davis says the day will be capped with their annual auction that raises money for scholarships for students considering careers in outdoors writing and communications. He says he and association members have enjoyed their time in Fond du Lac and the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce set the bar high for future conferences.
