Agnesian Donates To Farm2Table Coop And Cafe

Agnesian HealthCare is helping to lead a three-year plan designed to enhance the overall health and well-being of people in Fond du Lac County. The Healthy Fond du Lac 2020 Initiative focuses on the issues of obesity, dental care, mental health and alcohol consumption.

To help support this initiative, Agnesian HealthCare has been sharing ways for individuals, especially children, to improve their physical health and well-being through healthy eating and active lifestyles. It is funding a wellness program coordinator, stationed at the Fond du Lac Family YMCA, to create programs and services that complement these efforts.

And, thanks to Agnesian HealthCare, families are finding it easier to purchase fruits and vegetables during the Farmer’s Market in Fond du Lac using debit and credit cards. This new feature is also opening up the market for FoodShare participants.

Now, Agnesian HealthCare is continuing its efforts by donating $5,000 to the Farm2Table Co-op & Café, which is temporarily located at 74 S. Main Street in Fond du Lac. Its mission is to promote a healthy, vibrant community by providing fresh, nutritious and fairly-priced goods and services to consumers while supporting local and organic suppliers.

Farm2Table Co-op & café is a member-owned co-operative. Everyone who becomes an owner/member is investing in the community and the principles of Farm2Table Co-op & Café.

To become a member, a membership form must be completed and mailed to the Main Street location.

There are three membership options: $200 lifetime membership fee (no processing fee); $50 per year over a four-year period ($5 processing fee each transaction for a total lifetime membership fee of $220); and $25 per year over an eight-year period ($5 processing fee for each transaction for a total lifetime membership fee of $240).

“Agnesian HealthCare is proud to support community efforts which make it easier for individuals and families to live healthier lives,” according to Holly Brenner, vice president of Strategic Development & Marketing. “We know that this new venture will help interested parties in following some basic heart-healthy principles, such as getting plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fiber, potassium and antioxidants; cutting back on saturated fat; avoiding or limiting consumption of trans fats; and increasing your intake of healthy unsaturated fats, omega-3 fatty acids, nuts and fish.”
