Agnesian HealthCare Announces Promotions

Agnesian HealthCare has announced several key executive promotions as part of its ongoing growth initiatives to enhance the quality of services and to meet the ever-changing healthcare environment.

            “We have an outstanding team of executives that work diligently to ensure that Agnesian HealthCare continues to offer the finest level of services and technology for the betterment of the communities we serve,” says Steve Little, Agnesian HealthCare president and chief executive officer. “These promotions recognize the dedicated efforts of several of these team members and help further position us for continued success now and well into the future.”

            Katherine Vergos (pictured above), MHA, FACHE, has been promoted to St. Agnes Hospital chief operating and nursing officer.

Vergos is a registered nurse who joined Agnesian HealthCare upon the affiliation of Ripon Medical Center with Agnesian HealthCare in June 2010. Most recently, Vergos served as St. Agnes Hospital vice president and chief nursing officer, and previously as the chief operating officer of Ripon Medical Center where she led building of the new hospital in Ripon. In her new role, Vergos will assume responsibilities for the daily operations at St. Agnes Hospital.


            Holly Brenner, MBA, will now serve as senior vice president of strategic development and marketing, and president of the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation.

Brenner has been with Agnesian HealthCare since 2011 when she joined Agnesian HealthCare as director of marketing. Since then, Brenner has been promoted to vice president of strategic development and marketing and the president of the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation. In her role, Brenner has solidified the Agnesian HealthCare brand, grown awareness of the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation and has been a visionary executive leader. Brenner will maintain all of her current responsibilities in addition to other executive operational duties of the health system.


Bonnie Schmitz, CPA, MBA, has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer.    

            Schmitz joined Agnesian HealthCare in 1992 as a financial analyst at St. Agnes Hospital. In 2007, Schmitz was promoted to director of finance, and then to vice president and chief financial officer in 2011. Schmitz’s financial stewardship was essential to Agnesian HealthCare earning an improved credit rating of A from Standard and Poor’s and A3 from Moody’s in 2015.
