Agnesian HealthCare Donation Tops Off Science Intiative

A $6,000 donation by Agnesian HealthCare has helped the Ripon Education Foundation, Inc. reach its original three-year goal to raise $25,000 to help improve the science education offerings at Ripon High School through modern equipment and learning tools in only one year.

The Foundation’s Science Initiative was first announced in April 2014 using a wish list from local science teachers, according to Tom Moniz, Ripon Education Foundation, Inc. president.

“One of the goals of the Ripon Education Foundation has always been to provide the teachers – and therefore, ultimately, the students of the Ripon Area School District, with the tools they need to succeed,” Moniz says. “With Agnesian HealthCare’s wonderfully generous capping gift of $6,000, we are thrilled to get this new science equipment into the hands of the students a full two years earlier than anticipated.

“We know this successful campaign will help to enhance our students’ learning environment in this key area so that our graduates may be better prepared for college and the workforce,” Moniz adds.

The Science Initiative got off to a quick start thanks to an $8,000 grant from the Ripon Area United Way. Individuals and businesses have helped to bolster fund-raising efforts, and Agnesian HealthCare’s donation helped conclude the cause in record time.

“It is our privilege to support such a worthy cause,” says Katherine Vergos, Ripon Medical Center chief operating officer. “We have a vested interest in the success of this community and the residents that comprise it. This is just one way we can give back to area individuals and families who have supported us for so many years. We look forward to seeing how this new equipment and educational tools will help our science students excel.”
