ALC Recommending Denial Of Retlaw Hotel Liquor License Renewal

Fond du Lac’s Alcohol and Licensing Committee decided yesterday to recommend that the City Council deny the renewal of the Retlaw Plaza Hotel’s liquor license. The owners of the historic hotel, North Main Hospitality, owe the City more than $60,000 combined for unpaid utilities and property tax. No one representing the ownership attended Monday’s meeting. Two years ago the hotel was given the benefit of the doubt when it owed the City a large amount of money in a similar situation, but was given more time to make things right. The hotel owes the City nearly $27,500 in utility payments and almost $33,500 in unpaid property taxes. Liquor licenses are typically renewed in June because they run from July 1st to the following June 30th.
