Alcohol Reportedly Factor in Fatal Lake Winnebago Boat Collision
13-Sep-2018
A report shows alcohol use was a contributing factor in a fatal boat crash on Lake Winnebago. The results of blood alcohol tests are still pending. The report also shows “navigation rules violation” as a factor in the August 18th crash that killed 26-year old Lauren Laabs and 20-year old Cassie Laabs.
Reports say neither boat operator saw the other – as the report shows the front of the Laabs’ boat hit the side of the second boat. The Laabs’ boat was going about 10-20 miles per hour, while the other was going somewhere from 20-40 miles per hour. Nobody on either side was wearing a personal flotation device at the time. No charges have yet been filed in connection to the crash.
