Apparent Agreement In Sand Mine Dispute

Two sides in a dispute over the location of a sand mine in Town of Ashford have apparently reached an agreement. A spokesman for the group STOMP or Stop The Ongoing Mine Permit says legal counsel for the Town of Ashford Board of Appeals and Batzler Trucking confirmed the special use permit issued by the board last August is being invalidated. Documents still have to be signed and submitted to Fond du Lac County Judge Peter Grimm due to an ongoing lawsuit. Apparently it’s being stipulated that the Town Board of Appeals mistakenly believed the property the mine is located, which is zoned Exclusive Agriculture District, allowed nonmetallic mineral extraction. Other issues in the lawsuit are not addressed by the agreement.
