Area State Legislators Push Judge To Reinstate Expansion Of Hwy 23

State legislators representing Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties sent a letter to the federal judge who stopped funding for the Highway 23 expansion project between Fond du Lac and Plymouth. State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says there’s an accident on that two lane stretch of highway at a rate of almost one a week or every 8 days. He says he’s known some of the people that have been hurt in those accidents. He says he also knows from talking to area residents there are some who are afraid of traveling that highway. Thiesfeldt say the letter urges Judge Lynn Adelman to reinstate funding for construction of the expansion. The letter has statistics on accidents on the highway, letters of support and resolutions from Fond du Lac and Sheboygan County officials. An accident Sunday at an intersection on the highway led to critical injuries for a 76-year-old Oostburg man.
