Attorney Sentenced to Probation for Drug Deals

An attorney accused to trading drugs for clerical work has been sentenced to probation in Winnebago County. 52-year old David Templeton pleaded no contest to a charge of Manufacture or Delivery of Heroin. An informant told drug unit investigators that he had an appointment with Templeton to discuss services at Templeton’s legal business – but payment for the services was “expected to be in the form of methamphetamine”. Templeton reportedly gave the informant a packet of heroin during the meeting. He was given a stayed sentence of two years in prison and three years extended supervision – meaning he will not have to serve time unless he violates probation.
