Baldwin And Petri Oppose Military Strike In Syria

Senator Tammy Baldwin delivered a floor speech in the nation’s capitol yesterday opposing military involvement in Syria. She condemned the use of chemical weapons by Syria. She says America must not act alone. She urged the Senate to allow the United Nations’ effort to resolve the issue a chance to succeed. Congressman Tom Petri also issued a statement yesterday saying, “I continue to have serious concerns about a potential military strike on Syria.  There are simply too many unanswered questions at this point, and I’ve said before that I don’t think we’ve exhausted all other options.  Now, if President Assad is willing to work with inspectors and hand over his weapons, that’s a good sign.  But as the saying goes, ‘trust, but verify.’  So I’d like to see the follow-through from the Syrian government.”
