BBB Shares Advice for Fans Looking to Buy Tickets to UW Football’s Bowl Game

Wisconsin Football fans looking to score tickets to see the
team play in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day are reminded to watch out for
scams involving tickets and travel packages – in addition to counterfeit merchandise.

Tickets went on sale for the general public at Noon today
(Tuesday) – and while the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin recommends
getting your tickets through the UW Athletics Website, its certain that people
will turn to other sources like StubHub, Ebay, Craigslist or even outside the
stadium on game day to get their seats.

Officials with the BBB say if you’re going the online route
to buy tickets – to make sure the tickets are real and not counterfeit, and to
buy from verified sellers when possible. They suggest asking the seller to email
you a picture of the tickets – including a receipt or other proof of purchase to
show they are real. Buyers should look for any alterations or inaccuracies to
the tickets – and double check them with the stadium seating chart.

If a travel package to Pasadena is part of your plans – the
BBB says to call the hotel that’s part of the package and verify the room you
paid for actually exists.

As for team gear – experts say to buy from the official
team site or a reputable website that’s authorized to sell NCAA gear. Authentic
merchandise will always have the correct fonts, colors and spelling and tags on
the gear will have an official hologram sticker.
