BBBS Little Brother Makes A Big Difference

Since May of 2008, Jacob has been a ‘Little’ in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  Paired with ‘Big’, Dave Colwin, Jacob has experienced a wide variety of things including sports (soccer and basketball), participating in his church youth group and starting his first job (cutting grass and shoveling snow).  What he seen and learned firsthand, however, was to give people respect, have an appreciation for what you have and how to save money.

At fourteen, Jacob is the oldest of eight children and has not come from an easy background. Being paired with Dave through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, has helped Jacob grow by leaps and bounds.  He is a kind, compassionate young man that will take the world by storm.

“Leading by example, Dave taught Jacob the importance of giving back,” said Tammy Young, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters.  “What an awesome thing when a young adult decides to give back on his own.  It’s even more special, when it is one you have seen grow and develop over the years.  Jacob made a total of $290 over a period of time and decided to give 10% of it back to the place he has been part of for 8 years. BBBS is blessed to have Jacob and Dave as part of our program!”
