Bear Sightings Increasing

Bear sightings are reportedly becoming more common around Northeast Wisconsin. DNR biologists say it was an occasional occurrence about twenty years ago – but bears have since been sighted more often. And while it’s nowhere near the amount of collision with deer, they say there are a couple hundred bear and vehicle crashes in the state each year. Anyone who comes across a bear is advised to give it space. Eliminating food sources on your property also helps avoid the possible appearance of bears. The DNR says April and May are popular times to see bears due to hibernation – but sightings also peak in July, because that is mating season.
