Beaver Dam Tavern Owner Arraigned On Drunken Driving Homicide Charges

A Beaver Dam tavern owner facing vehicular homicide charges in a Sheboygan County accident was arraigned this week. Fifty-seven-year-old John Hammen is not able to speak due to injuries he suffered in the accident. Not guilty pleas were entered for him on drunken driving homicide charges. Hammen was allegedly going more than 100 miles an hour when his sports car went off County Road SS in the Town of Sherman in September of last year. It struck a culvert and crashed into a tree line. Hammen and his passenger 61-year-old Freddie Nelson of Beaver Dam were both flown from the scene. Nelson died three days later. A status conference is scheduled in the case in December.
