Bill Would Guarantee Full Grant Funding For High Schools Providing Technical

State Senator Dan Feyen says a bill he and State Representative Joan Ballweg authored will guarantee high schools involved in the Wisconsin Fast Forward program get their full share of grant monies for providing career and technical education programs.  He says school districts were supposed to get $1,000 per pupil for each completed, industry-recognized certification program. Feyen says it proved so popular that the first year school districts could apply for grants the $3 million originally put into the program wasn’t enough. He says 3,934 kids participated and schools ended up getting just over $762 each. He says the idea is to provide students with the education employers’ demand of their workforce. Feyen says not all students will go on for a four-year degree. He says some will be seeking a technical education and this program gives them early exposure to that.
