Black History Month Celebrated At Children's Museum Of FDL

Families are invited to visit the Children’s Museum to learn about influential people such as Maya Angelou and many others throughout the exhibit space in a celebration of Black History Month through February 28. For more information, visit cmfdl.org.

The Story:

The Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac is celebrating Black History Month with educational displays throughout the exhibit space. Each display highlights a notable figure in American history who made a significant impact, including authors, inventors, civil rights activists, and more. The highlighted heroes include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Maya Angelou, and Rosa Parks, among many others. As children and their families play and explore throughout the Museum, they are able to learn fun facts about these influential people.

Museum visitor, Mary McCutcheon, brought her grandchildren to see the Black History Month displays and had this to say online: “This is a must see and experience exhibit. Get yourself and everyone’s kids over there. You’ll have to go to read this [Maya Angelou] poster and others on the other amazing folks in our history.”

In honor of Black History Month, the Museum is also inviting kids to participate in a collaborative art project in the lobby for all to view and enjoy. Kids can trace their hands on multicultural paper, write what makes them unique on it, and add it to the heart-shaped mural. The mural will be up, along with the Black History Month displays, through February 28. For more information, visit cmfdl.org.
