BMX Bikers Get Trial Period At FDL Skate Board Park

13-Jun-2013

BMX bikers have this summer to prove they can co-exist with skate boarders at the Skate Board Park in Fond du Lac. The City Council unanimously agreed to allow a trial period starting today and running through Labor Day allowing the two user groups to use the park. Tim Weddle has been at the City Council and Advisory Park Board meetings while the proposal was being discussed and is pleased his 8-year-old son and other bikers will be given the opportunity. City Council President Sam Meyer says a similar trial period was given to ATV users on the Eisenbahn Trail when he sat on the County Board and that turned out alright.

A Lind is right. BMX will take over park. Let them build their own.

Let the BMX's build their own park a the skateboarders did. They will not co-exist. Two differetn breeds of kids.

Questionable at best.

Well, only 2 fights there today between skateboarders and BMX kids. That's better than I thought it would be

The city of Fond du Lac doesn't do anything for the BMX track across the road. Other cities have such a nice track because the city there helps them out.

BIG MISTAKE, YOU HAVE THE BMX TRACK RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET, WHY CANT THEY USE THAT? IS IT JUST FOR THE BMX CLUB OR FOR THE PUBLIC TO USE. I CANT BELIEVE THIS WENT THRU, YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE KIDS BEING BULLIED BY THE OLDER KIDS, AND LOTS OF POLICE CALLS, WHEN THE POLICE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR MORE IMPORTANT THINGS THAN BABYSITTING.

It will be nice to see some bikes using the park instead of kids on scooters doing absolutely nothing with it

The skateboarders have no problem with the BMXers in there. Majority of them are all friends. As far as the fights anywhere you have kids gather there are gonna be fights.

I don't think you people are giving the kids the benefit of the doubt. Just because the kids look different does not mean they are creeps. Some of the Bmx kids are the nicest kids. As I'm sure the skateboarders are too.
