Bob Haase's Another Can of Worms

It Must Be Global Warming!

Is it me, or does it seem like winter is lasting a lot longer this year.  I think most of us have had enough winter and we are anxiously waiting for some warmer weather.  Last year we had an early spring and everyone seemed to think that global warming was definitely for real.  I think we would have a hard time selling global warming this spring.  This is true not only in Wisconsin, but other parts of the United States as well.

It seems like whenever we have changes in the weather we need to justify it in some way and find a reason for the changes.  All I know is that "Mother Nature" has a mind of her own and we have little control over what happens.  As a kid I can remember lots of snow with huge snow drifts and some very cold weather.  In my 68 years, I have seen wet rainy weather where I thought we should start building an arc.  It wasn't long and we had drought conditions and we were praying for rain. I can also remember some very hot summers that seemed hotter than we have been having now, but we didn't talk about global warming.

Weather is always changing and there is little we can do to control it.  Just be glad we were not living in Wisconsin during the Ice Age!  Then we really would have had something to complain about and we wouldn't be talking about global warming. It seems like summer and warmer weather is never going to get here, but it won't be long and we will be complaining about how warm it is. There is that saying that "If you don't like the weather in Wisconsin.... wait a couple hours and it will change".   No matter how much we complain we can't change the weather.

I guess when it comes to weather we should consider the Serenity Prayer.  God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. I can't change the weather, but I can put another log on the fire, and that is what I plan on doing now.
