Bond Set High For Suspect In Beaver Dam Fire Death

Bond has been set at $60,000 cash for a 21-year-old Cambria man suspected of killing a Beaver Dam High School student by setting fire to a mobile home. Jose J. Hernandez, Jr. made his initial appearance in Dodge County Court this morning. Charges stem from his alleged actions last weekend when he broke into a mobile home following an underage drinking party to get his car keys and allegedly beat up 18-year-old Victor Manuel Aguilar-Bustamante. According to the criminal complaint Hernandez returned later while Aguilar-Bustamante was sleeping to look for his cell phone. Hernandez used matches to see and spilled a box of wooden matches on the floor of the trailer. Aguilar-Bustamante died from carbon monoxide-poisoning likely from smoke inhaled from the fire. Hernandez will return to court on May 13th. He’s being held in the Dodge County Jail.
