Book Sales Benefitting Holy Family Stained Glass Window Fund

Stories about life in Fond du Lac are benefitting an effort to buy stained glass windows to place behind the altar at the Holy Family Church. Linus Doll wrote the stories as an occasional columnist for the Fond du Lac Reporter. His writing started with a Letter to the Editor in which he knocked people who were criticizing the work of snowplow drivers. He was urged to write more, which grew into a series of columns. The book Looking Back includes 113 of his columns. Doll was born in 1926. He says his stories spring from his life. One of his most popular columns had to do with people’s nicknames. He says years ago no one knew what their friends’ names were, but they knew their nicknames. He received a lot of compliments about that article. The books are available at the Holy Family Parish office for $15. Those who are homebound and live in Fond du Lac can call Doll at 921-7669 to arrange delivery of the book. All the proceeds from sales of the book are going to the stained glass window fund.
