Brandon Man Bound Over For Trial On Drunken Driving Homicide Charges

A 62-year-old Brandon man has been bound over for trial on drunken driving homicide charges in Barron County. Gary Clark was in court this week for a preliminary hearing on homicide by negligent operation and intoxicated use of a vehicle charges. He was bound over for trial and not guilty pleas were entered when he was subsequently arraigned. Clark is accused of driving drunk on Highway 8 the night of July 22nd and running through a stop sign. His pickup truck struck a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Kathleen Smith of Rice Lake. She was killed in the accident and her 17-year-old grandson James Smith was injured. A plea hearing is scheduled for October 7th.
