Brandon Man Charged With Drunken Driving Homicide
A Fond du Lac County man has been charged in a fatal drunk driving crash in northwest Wisconsin. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says it happened about 9:00 Monday night on Highway 8 near Almena. He says a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign on 8th Street and struck a vehicle traveling on Highway 8 killing the driver and injuring a 17-year-old passenger. The driver of the truck was arrested for homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. He's identified as 62 year-old Gary Clark of Brandon. The victim was 64 year old Kathleen-Smith of Rice Lake. She died at the scene. Her grandson, 17-year old James Smith of Rice Lake was taken to Cumberland Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Clark is currently being held in the Barron County jail.
