Brown County Sheriffs K9 Dies At PGA Championship

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department held a news conference Thursday afternoon to discuss the death of a 3-year-old police dog during the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. The dog, “Wix”, was a member of their department and had been specially assigned to the PGA event. He was in a squad car Wednesday and the engine was running and the air conditioning was on. When a deputy checked on him early that afternoon he was non-responsive in the back of the squad car. The air conditioning had failed and a K9 heat alarm in the car did not activate. K9 Wix had been with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office since April of 2014. The Sheriff’s office and a veterinary hospital are investigating the cause of death.
