Busy Summer For County Highway Crews

It’s a busy summer for Fond du Lac County Highway crews. County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says they are repaving, repairing and improving county highways. Among them is a 4 to 5 mile stretch of County Highway G. He says that includes the realignment and reconstruction of an intersection with County Highway SS, which has seen some fatal accidents over the years. He says that project is 95 to 98 percent complete. Other projects have included pulverizing and repaving of a stretch of County Highway AY, paving of County Highway Y from Highway 151 south to the Village of Oakfield limits. He says they are also urbanizing a half mile stretch of County Highway S through New Fane with curb and gutter and new storm sewers. He says that road really hasn’t been touched since the 1920’s. He says they also started a project on County Highway UU where they will be rebuilding failing culverts and putting in a large box culvert. That project will take three to four weeks and will close down County Highway UU between Artesian Road and County Highway T or 4th Street Road.
