Camelot Drive Parking Restriction Sent Back To Committee

The Fond du Lac City Council last night unanimously decided to send a request to restrict parking on Camelot Drive on both sides back to the Advisory Parking and Traffic Board. Before the Council debated the issue they heard from a representative of Grande Cheese who told them their 100,000 square foot headquarters and research and development center they will be building this summer along with Agnesian HealthCare’s project will mean an additional 400 to 600 cars a day on Camelot Drive. On the other hand a resident asked the Council to consider moving the unofficial park and ride further up the road from construction until a new park and ride is built as part of the County Highway V and Highway 151 interchange project next year. Councilwoman Lee Ann Lorrigan said it didn’t make sense to her to block the entire street from Highway 151 to South Main. Council President Sam Meyer asked if the Council was under the gun to make a decision last night, which led to considering the delay on making a decision. City Engineer Paul DeVries said they could consider restricting parking at certain times. Also last night the Council approved a three-year contract with the City’s Transit Union.
