Campbellsport, Mayville High Schools Awarded Pollinator Grants

Campbellsport and Mayville High Schools are among 12 schools
in the state to be awarded grants to help establish habitats for insect pollinators
and monarch butterflies. Each school will receive native wildflower seedlings,
a training webinar and consultation, and a $1,000 grant for the school district
or FFA chapter to offset project expenses. To receive a grant, schools were required
to have greenhouses or suitable outdoor growing areas to raise nearly 600 seedlings,
plus a rural area where the native wildflowers will be transplanted in the
spring. Students will also be asked to tend to the plants through the summer. The
pollinator habitat grants were awarded to agricultural and science educators by
the Sand County Foundation, the We Energies Foundation, Bayer Crop Science, the
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Dairyland Power Cooperative.
