Car Hits FDL Apartment Building

Update: A man is fortunate he wasn’t more seriously injured after taking out the front porch of a multi-family apartment building in Fond du Lac overnight. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says the man was traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit the porch and took out the concrete steps at 70 East Merrill Avenue. The man was actually walked to the ambulance. Haase says most of the damage to the car was on the passenger’s side. Paramedics treated the man and took him to St. Agnes Hospital. No one in the building was injured. Haase says the accident could have been much more serious. He says the car stopped about a foot away from a gas main, which if hit could have started a fire. The accident occurred at 10:11 p.m.

Fond du Lac paramedics treated a person who hit a multi-family apartment building at 70 East Merrill Avenue with their car last night. The accident  happened at 10:11 p.m. Paramedics treated the person and took them to St. Agnes Hospital. No one living in the residence was hurt. The car was heavily damaged after hitting the front porch of the building. Fire crews shored up the structure with t-bracing supports so the car could be removed.
