Censorships Concerns Will Be Brought Up At FDL School Board Meeting

Fond du Lac High School students are expected to attend today’s school board meeting to voice concerns over a new policy in which administrators can oversee student publications. A recent article in the “Cardinal Columns” student magazine about rape jokes and rape culture at the school raised some concerns about content. District Superintendent Jim Sebert and High School Principal Jon Wiltzius felt the subject matter may be inappropriate for immature audiences. Now 16 members of the English Department have signed a statement supporting the students. The matter isn’t listed as a specific item on the board’s agenda, but could be brought up during the audience to visitors and delegation section of the meeting. The meeting is at 5 p.m. at the District Administration Center Board Room.
