Charity Golf Open Supports Financial Help for Hospice

The Agnesian Healthcare Foundation is hosting a charity golf tournament next week to raise money for a local hospice center. The Hospice Home of Hope allows families to not worry about the financial struggle as a loved one nears the end of their life.

Shawn Fisher with the foundation tells us the charity golf open has been going on for a long time. Fisher says “the charity open is next Monday, the 13th. It’s our annual fundraising event for our hospice program. This is its 30th year, it’s very well established. It’s a day of golf, there’s a bunch of fun games, we have dinner – and then of course we have this raffle that goes with the charity open every year, and we give away a car.”

Fisher adds that “last year there were over 800 patients that received hospice. With the
overlapping, there’s generally up to 300 patients at a time that are receiving
care either at the hospice home or in their own home. And about – almost half
of those patients receive financial assistance through the foundation.”

The event tees off at South Hills Golf and Country Club at 9:00am Monday morning.
