Charity Open Has Banner Year

While many individuals and families experience financial hardships that prevent them from seeking necessary medical care, Agnesian HealthCare – with generous community support – works to ensure that all patients receive care, regardless of their ability to pay.

This is particularly true for those individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and require vital healthcare services to return back to good health. Or they may be facing end-of-life issues.

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s Hospice Hope Cancer Care Charity Open supports the ongoing mission of Hospice Hope, as well as the Cancer Care Fund. In fact, its 2014 event in late August helped to raise $270,000.

The day featured great golfing and fellowship at the South Hills Golf & Country Club, followed by a dinner with unique live and silent auctions. The night culminated with the raffle grand prize drawing for a new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude FWD or a $15,000 cash prize, along with other prizes.

The event was led by senior chairpersons Dan and Joan Buechel, along with junior co-chairpersons Dr. Shayne and Nichi Bauer.

“Beside financial savings, patients and families receiving hospice and cancer care services benefit from emotional, social and spiritual support,” says Rita Meidam, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation executive director. “To provide these services, we rely on the support of all those whose hearts are touched by the work we do. We are grateful for their continued commitment.”
