Charity Open Raffle Benefits Those In Need

Fond du Lac area residents and their families benefit each year from the services provided by Agnesian HealthCare Hospice Hope and Cancer Care. These vital services allow them to receive quality and compassionate care close to home.

Net proceeds from the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s 26th annual Hospice Hope Cancer Care Charity Open on Monday, August 18 go directly to hospice hope and cancer care.

“Each year the Community Cancer Care Fund helps numerous cancer patients get the care they desperately need,” according to Terry Mabee, Agnesian HealthCare Community Care specialist. “Proceeds from the Charity Open make such a difference in so many lives touched by cancer. Patients and families are so appreciative.”

Continued financial support is essential to help patients and families that are facing end-of-life illnesses.

“Hospice Hope cares for hundreds of terminally-ill patients and their families every year,” says Andrew Land, Agnesian HealthCare Hospice Hope and Palliative Care Services director. “Hospice offers loving end-of-life care for individuals and their families dealing with life-limiting illnesses from the time of diagnosis through therapy and death, and continuing with bereavement support of the family.”

This year, the Hospice Hope Cancer Care Charity Open is being led by Dan and Joan Buechel as senior chairpersons, with Dr. Shayne and Nichi Bauer joining as junior chairpersons.

“It means a great deal to us to be able to help those in need of hospice or cancer care services,” says Dr. Shayne Bauer. “We value all those who help support the patients and families who ultimately benefit from the Charity Open.”

This year’s raffle gives people the opportunity to win the first-place prize of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude FWD or a $15,000 cash prize. The second prize is $5,000 cash, and the third prize is $2,500 cash. A limited number of tickets will be sold at four for $150 or $50 each.

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation can now accept credit card ticket sales by phone. All other purchases will continue to occur face-to-face, without sales by mail.

“We are so grateful for the community’s continued support of these two vital healthcare services,” says Rita Meidam, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation executive director. “Individuals and families in the Fond du Lac area are fortunate to have these state-of-the-art services within their own community, often eliminating the needs to travel and leave family behind.”
