Chilton Man Charged After High Speed Chase in FDL County

A 40-year-old Chilton man has been charged in Fond du Lac
County Court after a high speed chase over the weekend that spanned nearly
eight miles. Juan Hurtado Olivera made his initial appearance in court Wednesday
and faces four counts of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety,
one count of Fleeing/Eluding an Officer and an OWI charge with children under
16 in the vehicle. Hurtado Olivera led Fond du Lac County Deputies on the pursuit
down Highway 151 Saturday afternoon at maximum speeds of 98 miles per hour. He exited
onto Johnson Street where deputies and city police officers were eventually
able to bring the vehicle to a stop. Police discovered four children all under
the age of 14 were in the car with him during the chase. Hurtado Olivera is due
back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 3rd.
