Chilton Man In Custody after High Speed Chase

A 39-year-old man from Chilton was arrested after a high
speed chase that ended in the City of Fond du Lac. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s
Deputy first tried to stop the vehicle in the Town of Calumet for traveling 98
miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. The driver failed to stop – and continued
south on Highway 151, where he eventually slowed to near highway speeds.
Deputies tried to use tire deflation devices near the intersection with County
Highway K, but were unsuccessful and the driver continued into the City of Fond
du Lac on Johnson Street. The driver was eventually stopped by a “moving
roadblock” technique on Johnson Street by a group of sheriff’s deputies and City
of Fond du Lac Police Officers. The roadblock was performed as speeds reached
below 30 miles per hour.

As the vehicle was stopped, officers discovered four
children all under the age of 14 years old were also in the car during the
pursuit. The driver was taken into custody on charges of Felony Fleeing an
Officer, and will also face further criminal charges for Operating While
Intoxicated with minor passengers present and numerous traffic citations. The
pursuit spanned nearly eight miles. No injuries to officers or civilians or
property damage were reported.
