Citations Down at Country USA

Country USA attendees were apparently better behaved at the festival this year. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office only handed out half the number of citations at this year’s event – when compared to last year.

Deputies dished out 128 citations during the five-day music festival, which is exactly one-hundred less than 2017. The largest issue once again was underage drinking, but that dropped from 202 citations in 2017 to just 112 this year. Nine arrests were also made.

Festival organizers say the attendance was just about on par with the past four years, and there were about the same number of deputies as well. In separate efforts, State Patrol troopers handed out 94 citations and made four arrests for drunken driving this year. 34 of those citations were also for underage drinking violations.
