City Council Sees Overview of 2019 Budget

During a city council meeting Wednesday night, Fond du Lac City Manager Joe Moore said the city’s 2019 budget is looking fairly similar to the current budget. Moore expects a strong economy and an increase of 1.27% in net new construction to keep the tax rate down in next year’s budget.

The budget does plan for a 30-35% increase in street paving projects in 2019 – but Moore says he does not expect cuts in any programs or services. Among the big-ticket projects scheduled are the Arndt Street bridge replacement and reconstruction of Main Street between Merrill and Johnson – along with the addition of a roundabout to connect Rienzi Road and Fond du Lac Avenue.

There will also be a budget line for adding extra security at the government center. A full proposed budget will be given to the council in August – with a vote for approval set for the fall.
