City of Fond du Lac Police Squad Accident


At approximately 8:54 p.m. on Friday November 1, 2013, a crash involving two City of Fond du Lac Police Squads occurred on Western Ave. and S. Macy St.   While responding to a call for emergency assistance from another officer, the two squad cars which were operating in emergency mode at the time collided in the intersection of Western Ave. and S. Macy St.


Both Officers who were driving the squad cars involved in the collision were transported to St. Agnes Hospital by City of Fond du Lac Fire Department ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.   The Officers were treated and later released from the Hospital.


At the request of the Fond du Lac Police Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol was called in to investigate the crash.  Agencies that assisted at the scene included the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue and the City of Fond du Lac Public Works.    The accident remains under active investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.

And a year from now we will get a report from the state telling us what happened. Good call by the PD on this one.

How can a squad car, even with emergency lights and siren activated, run a red light? Macy Street is a red light at that time of the night. It appears to me someone ran a red light. I wonder if there will be a citation issued? Good thing it wasn't a citizen that was EB on western ave
