Colwin Foundation Provides Funding For Armored SWAT Vehicle For FDL PD

Through a generous gift by the Joe and Dawn Colwin Foundation the Fond du Lac Police Department has received a fully armored tactical response vehicle. The newly constructed Lenco ‘Bearcat’ was delivered to the department last Friday. It fulfills a couple of needs for the department giving them a primary SWAT Team vehicle to protect its occupants and will add a resource for the Patrol Division in dangerous situations. The Joe and Dawn Colwin Family Foundation provided a gift of $217,446 to cover the cost of the purchase of the vehicle. Police Chief Bill Lamb says of the gift, “On behalf of the men and women of the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, and the community that we work so hard to protect, we extend our most sincere and heartfelt appreciation and thanks for this very generous, and potentially lifesaving, gift to the City of Fond du Lac.”  The foundation will be recognized for the gift with a proclamation during the City Council meeting Wednesday night at 6 p.m.  The ‘Bearcat’ vehicle will be on display for public viewing from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in the North Parking Lot of the Fond du Lac City/County Government Center at 160 S. Macy Street. To read the press release click here
