Colwin Foundation Provides Funding For Armored SWAT Vehicle For FDL PD

Through a generous gift by the Joe and Dawn Colwin Foundation the Fond du Lac Police Department has received a fully armored tactical response vehicle. The newly constructed Lenco 'Bearcat' was delivered to the department last Friday. It fulfills a couple of needs for the department giving them a primary SWAT Team vehicle to protect its occupants and will add a resource for the Patrol Division in dangerous situations. The Joe and Dawn Colwin Family Foundation provided a gift of $217,446 to cover the cost of the purchase of the vehicle. Police Chief Bill Lamb says of the gift, “On behalf of the men and women of the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, and the community that we work so hard to protect, we extend our most sincere and heartfelt appreciation and thanks for this very generous, and potentially lifesaving, gift to the City of Fond du Lac.”  The foundation will be recognized for the gift with a proclamation during the City Council meeting Wednesday night at 6 p.m.  The ‘Bearcat’ vehicle will be on display for public viewing from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in the North Parking Lot of the Fond du Lac City/County Government Center at 160 S. Macy Street. To read the press release click here

This a great addition to our department. By the way, thanks for cutting out budget so we have to drive our squad cars for 4-5 years until they fall apart. At least we have a $200,000 vehicle we can use twice a year. Not sure if this was a good use of money but as long as Mr Colwin gets his PR and Chief is happy.....

Just what we need, another one in Fond du Lac...I hear North Fond du Lac Police are getting one next year. Great use of resources!
