Commemoration Of FDL Veterans Mural This Afternoon

A mural honoring local veterans will be commemorated this afternoon during a ceremony at Dreher Collision Center at 290 North Main Street in Fond du Lac. The ceremony is at 2 p.m. The mural honors veterans from all five branches of military service. It was painted by local artist Bonnie Federman on the north side of Dreher Collison Center. Jenna Floberg is part of the Fondy First Leadership Fond du Lac team that came up with the idea for the mural. She says they wanted to do something that would leave a lasting impression on the community. She said they decided on the mural when they found out there are over 8,300 veterans in the Fond du Lac community alone. She says it also fits in nicely with efforts to embrace the arts in the community. She says they knew the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership was looking to do things with the arts. She says it was a two-for-one where they were able to recognize the veterans, but also embrace the arts. The public is welcome to attend, but if you can’t make it, there will be live video of the ribbon cutting on the Envision Greater Fond du Lac Facebook page.
