Comment Period for Highway 23 Expansion Nears End

There is now less than a week to let your opinion be heard on the Highway 23 expansion project. The DOT is taking comments from the public through the end of the month.

Cecilia Harry with Envision Greater Fond du Lac says she is part of a coalition team supporting the expansion, and they’re keeping a close eye on what the DOT is planning to do. She points out that “it’s everybody’s favorite and least favorite transportation project at the same time. Because I still haven’t met anybody face-to-face who doesn’t want to see Highway 23 expanded between Fond du Lac and Sheboygan counties. But it’s such a point of frustration that it’s not a fun topic for most people to talk about.”

Harry argues that the expansion would not only improve safety along that corridor – but it would also improve the movement of commerce through the area, as some companies currently restrict their employees and drivers from using that stretch of highway.
