CWD Concerns in Majority of Wisconsin Counties

As CWD infections in captive deer herds are taken into account, he DNR is considering 55 of 72 Wisconsin counties as CWD affected. Efforts to slow the spread of CWD are intensifying as the start of archery season creeps up on us.

The Natural Resources Board approved an emergency rule placing tighter restrictions on hunters transporting their deer – prohibiting deer carcasses from being removed from a county unless it’s taken to a commercial meat processor or taxidermist. DNR officials compare the rule to the rules boaters must follow to prevent the spread of invasive species.
