DATCP Advice for Summer Job Seekers

As the summer approaches – many students are looking for a part-time job. While there are plenty of summertime gigs for kids to pick up, some job postings are not quite what they seem. Jerad Albrecht from the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection tells parents and students alike to keep their eyes open for something that requires upfront payments for training or materials. Albrecht also says to watch for anyone asking for “a bunch of personal and banking information” in a job application. There are also check scams – where they so-called employer will issue bad checks, and request a certain amount paid back from the person they claim to have hired.
