Dave Haase RAAM Racing Days May Be Over

The 49-year-old Fond du Lac man who finished second in the 3,100 mile ultra cycling event Race Across America says it may be the last time he competes in the race. Dave Haase was the top American finisher. He says he may have finished first, but he developed a virus and altitude sickness along the way and nearly dropped out of the race. He says after getting nearly 17 hours of rest his breathing improved and he completed the race. The owner of Attitude Sports in Fond du Lac says he does his training in the area riding from two to five hours in the morning from Fond du Lac over to the Elkhart Lake area. He says he takes all the great country roads and enjoys the farmland and talking to cows during the ride. He says people are urging him to do Race Across America again but he just wants to enjoy biking. Haase will talk about his effort in the latest race as part of the Fond du Lac Library Going to Extremes series. His presentation is on Wednesday, July 20th at 6 p.m.
