Dems Attempt To Decriminalize Pot In State Could Be Snuffed Out

The effort to light a match under the Democrats efforts to decriminalize small amounts of pot could be snuffed out as Republican leaders remain largely opposed to the plan.  The bill would decriminalize possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana. According to State Senator Fred Risser of Madison, the existing criminal penalties are applied disproportionately and impacts communities of color. Republicans have said it’s a federal issue, not a state issue and have already indicated that the proposal is going nowhere.
